|Gloria Bohan - President and CEO, Omega World Travel|
Gloria Bohan founded Omega World Travel in Fredericksburg, Virginia, in 1972, and since that time has transformed her one-person office into a travel agency with sales revenues in excess of $1 billion a year, approximately 150 company-owned offices and 650 employees worldwide. Omega is ranked the 4th largest privately-owned travel agency in the United States by Business Travel News (June, 2012) and is the largest travel agency founded by, operated by and majority-owned by a woman.
Omega World Travel, considered an innovative, trend-setting leader in the travel industry, is now headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia. Ms. Bohan, a hands-on owner, has continually diversified Omega, which now serves every major area of corporate, leisure and government travel. Omega’s full service, on-site corporate and on-site government offices are located in cities throughout the United States and abroad in the United Kingdom and Bahrain.
Ms. Bohan views diversification as the key to continued success. A firm believer in personal contact, she created the small office concept, an innovation among travel agencies, which has enabled the company to meet its goal of personalized service.
Omega has been at the forefront of travel services on the Internet and in late 1997 launched Cruise.com which has since become one of the Internet’s largest cruise sellers.
Omega also owns TravTech, a travel technology company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for Omega’s clients and the travel industry at large. TravTech built the search and booking engines for Cruise.com.
